Seas of Plastic

Heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? Listen to Charles Moore in his TED Talk about the problem of plastic debris in our seas.
Beach cleanup activities can help to reduce the amount of plastic that will end up in the ocean. If you're not inspired after watching this video, to reduce your use of plastic, hopefully you will be inspired to try and keep that plastic from ending up in our oceans.

Join The BeeTTle Crew for one of our beach cleanup events or join other local beach cleanup events.

2011 International Coastal Cleanup Stats

The Ocean Conservancy has tallied up the numbers for the 2011 ICC effort. More than 9 million pounds of trash was picked up by approximately half-million volunteers worldwide. The top two countries for volunteers: United States of America and Phillipines. One small island who made the top 5 was the Dominican Republic with between 16K to 15K volunteers. Kudos!

View the detailed stats at the data release page on the Ocean Conservancy website.
