Salybia (Toco) Cleanup

Although we had a lot of really last minute cancellations, we still managed to make a dent in the garbage that was left all around the grounds and beachfront at Salybia in Toco with the 'crew' we brought. (People really need to recognise and appreciate the value of picking up their garbage and not digging holes to try and dump them but not covering them, or sticking them on the trees!)

Garbage does not make good decoration!! And mounds of garbage are unsightly. Salybia is one of the nicer beaches in terms of the water, so let's try and keep it clean for all to enjoy.

Special thanks to all the volunteers who helped us throughout the year and in this our last cleanup for 2007. We hope to see you all again next year, with some friends!

San Juan Boys R.C. Presentation

The BeeTTle Crew visited and did a presentation on the environment to some students to spread the message of keeping our environment litter-free. Approximately 44 students from Standard Four and Five classes assembled in the school's audio-visual room for the afternoon's presentation.

At left is a model of a school by the beach, designed and built by one of the BeeTTles to demonstrate to the students the importance of keeping our beaches clean.

At right is a photo of the enthusiastic students participating in the discussion. The students were very responsive and showed an active interest in the topic being discussed. The BeeTTle Crew left feeling very satisfied that the message of keeping the environment clean was well-received.

Special thanks to bpTT for sponsoring t-shirts for the students and to TDC for their sponsorship which allowed us to be able to give out prizes as incentives to the students.

Thank you also to all The BeeTTle Crew volunteers who helped to plan and organise this school presentation to make it the success that it was and extra special thanks to the Principal and staff members at San Juan Boy's R.C. who helped to make it all possible.

More photos can be found in The BeeTTle Crew's photo gallery for the presentation.
